No. 13: Vanderbilt Commodores

Song Title: Dynamite

Just like the football team, Vandy’s fight song leaves a lot to be desired (not that it’s really played that often).

The lyrics don’t make a lot of sense and don’t really paint the picture of a gridiron battle going on in your head. It reads more like a limited skirmish on a pirate vessel.

Well, they are the Commodores.

It’s an unimaginative tune where the countermelody seems to overpower the actual verse of the song, with little in the way of exciting and rousing chords to support either. A flat song for a basically flat team.

Leave the Dynamite to J.J. Walker, please.
