What we learned from the first weekend of the SEC Football season

Georgia may have the most talented QB group in the country
Last season, Georgia started Jacob Eason as a true freshman. Eason was the no. 1 pocket passer in the country coming out of high school in 2016. While he took plenty of lumps as a freshman, he still threw 16 touchdowns to just 8 interceptions with inconsistent play on the offensive line and at wide receiver. People were expecting a big step forward from Eason in year two.
On Saturday, Eason was injured on Georgia’s third possession of the game, and all of Bulldog Nation collectively held their breath. That’s when true freshman Jake Fromm entered the game. Fromm came in and looked like a different team. After two three-and-outs to begin the game, Fromm started moving the offense and led them to three straight touchdown drives in the second quarter. Fromm was the no. 3 pocket passer in the country coming out of high school in 2017.
Most teams would’ve panicked if their starting quarterback went down in the first quarter of the first game of the season, but not Georgia. They didn’t miss a beat, and actually looked better and more up-tempo after Fromm came in the game. However, if something happens to Fromm, the Bulldogs won’t be as lucky. Their third string quarterback, Brice Ramsey, went 0-for-2 against Appalachian State with two interceptions.
