Mississippi State is a title contender

Mississippi State put the SEC on notice on Saturday night, with their 37-7 dismantling of LSU. Dan Mullen is the second best coach in the SEC, and we’ve seen what he’s capable of when he has a quarterback that fits his system.

We all know what Mullen did at Florida when he had Tim Tebow running his offense. The Gators won two national championships in his four years as offensive coordinator. Fast forward to 2014 when Mullen had Dak Prescott, the best quarterback Mississippi State has ever had. The Bulldogs started the season 9-0 and were ranked no. 1 before losing three of their final four games.

With Nick Fitzgerald, Mullen has a guy who is almost like a hybrid of Tebow and Prescott. He’s got Prescott’s athleticism with Tebow’s power. The only problem is that he’s not as accurate of a passer as either of those two. The Bulldogs will be tested again this week when they travel to Athens, Ga. to face the no. 11 Georgia Bulldogs. This could turn out to be one of the best games of the SEC football season.
