South Carolina isn’t there yet

Clearly we made way too much of South Carolina’s 31-13 win over Missouri. Initially, that appeared to be a stepping stone win for Will Muschamp and his program, but now it just looks like a blowout win over the SEC’s worst team.

The Gamecocks actually out-gained their opponent for the first time this season against Kentucky, but for the first time this season, they came away with a loss. The big different was that Kentucky out-gained South Carolina 184-54 on the ground, and the Wildcats won the time of possession battle 36:49-23:11.

The news went from bad to worse after the game, when the Gamecocks discovered their best player, Deebo Samuel, will miss the rest of the season with a broken leg.
