SEC football is starting to see some separation, and Week 6 may prove to really show us who the contenders are in the conference.

The SEC football schedule has hit the teeth of conference play. We’re starting to see some of the traditional rivalries, with Week 6 possibly becoming separation Saturday in both divisions.

This week is an open date for the Mississippi State Rebels and Tennessee Volunteers, who could have a new head coach when the team returns to action next week.

For the season, my SEC football picks are 31-13 against the spread according to odds on SportsBookReview.com

I may never pick Kentucky to cover anything ever again.

SEC Football Dog of the Week

This has been the toughest week of the season yet to pick an underdog to beat the spread or upset the favorite, but given what we’ve seen, there can be only one choice.

Ole Miss Rebels at No. 12 Auburn Tigers (-30)
12:00 pm – Jordan-Hare Stadium, Auburn, Al.

Given the complete embarrassment suffered by Ole Miss at the hands of Alabama last week, a line of 22.5 might not seem too out of whack.

The truth of it is, Ole Miss isn’t as bad as they played against the Tide, and Auburn is no Alabama just yet. The Rebels will pick themselves up, dust themselves off, and proceed to lose yet another SEC game, but it won’t be as humiliating as the 66-3 lesson in football they received in Week 5.

Rebels keep it closer than 30, but not close enough to matter.

SEC Football Blowout of the Week.

It’s always tough predicting a blowout in an in-conference game, but as we saw last week they are going to happen this season.

No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs (-17.5) at Vanderbilt Commodores

12:00 pm – Vanderbilt Stadium, Nashville, Tn.

The narrative for this game has already become “Georgia is coming off an emotional blowout win against Tennessee, and Vanderbilt will be a trap game.”

Don’t believe it.

This is not your father’s or even grandfather’s Georgia football team. The Dawgs are going to put Vandy away early just as they did Tennessee and return home with a perfect first half of the season. Georgia covers up to three touchdowns.
