Some SEC football coaches are really beginning to feel the heat as the Week 7 slate of games arrives.

The SEC football schedule has now seen some separation between the haves and have nots, and now we see some coaches really begin to feel the heat. Must-wins this week? There may be a few.

This week is an open date for the Kentucky Wildcats, whose coach may be on that list of those with résumé polishing to do.

For the season, my SEC football picks are 35-15 against the spread according to odds on SportsBookReview.com

SEC Football Dog of the Week

There aren’t many games with big spreads in the SEC this week, but one of them jumps out at you right away.

Missouri Tigers at No. 4 Georgia Bulldogs (-30)
3:30 pm – Sanford Stadium, Athens, Ga.

Georgia is really good, and Missouri is really bad, particularly on defense. but 30 points might be a bit much for this one. If it were any other week, I might be inclined to give Georgia as many as 45 points.

However, this is the last game before Georgia’s bye week, and then the Bulldogs head to Jacksonville, Florida for the annual Cocktail Party against the hated Gators.

Kirby Smart will want his team as healthy as possible for that game, so if Georgia gets up as much as three scores on the Tigers, look for the coach to pull a lot of starters. That will be all Mizzou needs to keep this game within the 30-point range.

Georgia wins easily, but won’t cover 30.

SEC Football Blowout of the Week.

There’s always a game where one team just completely eviscerates the other, and we definitely have on on tap this week.

BYU Cougars at Mississippi State Bulldogs (-24)

12:00 pm – Davis Wade Stadium, Starkville, Ms.

Mississippi State isn’t fooling anyone. They aren’t an SEC contender this year. What they are is a team ready to exact a little vengeance after being utterly humiliated for two straight weeks against Georgia and Auburn.

BYU simply isn’t a good football team this year, especially against teams who can run the ball. It’s going to be a very long, humid afternoon in Starkville, particularly for the BYU defense.

Mississippi State covers 24 and maybe 14 more.
