What a weekend. It began with crazy non-SEC results on Friday night, and continued Saturday, with LSU’s 20-point comeback against Auburn.

The SEC football schedule is fairly light this weekend. Several teams are on bye, and Missouri is playing out of conference. Alabama is a big favorite again, LSU travels to Oxford, and Auburn travels to Fayetteville. It’s hard to believe it’s already week 8. Exhale, reset, and get ready for the home stretch.

Game of the Week: (1) Alabama (-34) vs. Tennessee

On a shallow weekend of SEC football matchups, this one gets “Game of the Week” honors for its storylines. At the time of writing, Butch Jones, miraculously, still has a job. Is this the actual last game of his tenure in Knoxville? It’s very possible.

As far as Alabama goes, they continue to roll along. Following a 41-9 victory against Arkansas, this is the third game in a row in which Alabama is a 30+ point favorite.

(24) LSU (-6.5) @ Ole Miss

It’s amazing what a win against a rival can do for the morale of a fan base. Before Saturday, the frustration around Ed Orgeron was palpable. After an amazing comeback against Auburn, Coach O has far more breathing room. If the Tigers can handle business in Oxford, they will move to 5-3 on the season, and 3-1 in the SEC.

On the other side of the coin, Ole Miss stopped a three game skid with a 57-35 win over Vanderbilt. Shea Patterson was the story of the game, throwing for 351 yards and four touchdowns.
