No. 5: Alabama vs. Florida 2016

There was not a whole lot of excitement in the last year’s conference title game. The No. 1 Alabama Crimson Tide earned a playoff berth as they delivered the blowout everyone was expecting when they defeated the No. 15 Florida Gators 54-16.

The Crimson Tide was pretty dominant from the very beginning. Alabama scored as many points in just the first quarter as the Gators did for the entire game. The Crimson Tide lead by three scores at halftime and shut Florida out in the second half.

Alabama’s athletic defense forced 3 turnovers, one of which was an interception that Minkah Fitzpatrick returned for a touchdown. But the Gators were not able to force any turnovers.

All of Florida’s 261 yards came from passing yards as the Crimson Tide held the Gators to zero rushing yards.

Fans anticipated this blowout as ticket prices for the conference title game last year were unusually low. Unless you are an Alabama fan, there was really nothing exhilarating about the Georgia Dome’s final SEC Championship Game.
