Mercedes-Benz Stadium

The SEC Championship game will have a new venue this season. From 1994 to 2016, the Georgia Dome hosted the conference title game in Atlanta.

Over the Summer, the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium was built right next to the old Georgia Dome. Therefore, the Georgia Dome was imploded on Nov. 20 to create more space for a parking and tailgating area for the new stadium.

Mercedes-Benz Stadium has already hosted college football games this season, and SEC teams have played there. Both Alabama and Tennessee played their season openers in the new stadium. However, this Saturday will be the first time Mercedes-Benz Stadium will host the SEC Championship game.
