Auburn vs. Georgia

This year, the SEC Championship game will be a rematch of the regular season meeting between the No. 2 Auburn Tigers and the No. 6 Georgia Bulldogs.

This is not the first time the conference title game has been a rematch, but it is the first time the Tigers and the Bulldogs will play each other for the SEC Championship. This is also the first time the two teams will play twice in a season.

Georgia and Auburn have one of the oldest and deepest rivalries in the nation. The two teams have played since 1892. Saturday’s game will be the 122nd meeting between the Tigers and the Bulldogs. Many former coaches and players from over the years have had ties to both schools, including Pat Dye and Vince Dooley.

But despite the deep rivalry and the connections the two teams share, they have never before won their respective divisions in the same season. For the first time, Auburn and Georgia will play for more than just rivalry bragging rights. This week, they will play for the conference title, and most likely the winner will be in the playoff.
