The secret Texas recruiting sauce.

Bret Bielema came to Arkansas football from distant Wisconsin. While his new Arkansas neighbors found him likeable, he wasn’t from around there.

Not so Morris.

When hired by SMU, Morris said, “I’m a Texas high school football coach. That’s who I am. I think that Texas high school football coaches do it the right way.”

“I’m a Texas high school football coach. That’s who I am.”

Morris is a native Texan and attended Texas A&M. He spent 16 years as a high school coach in Texas compiling a 169–38 record. He eventually went 32-0 to win a pair of state titles in his only two seasons at Austin’s Lake Travis High School.

Morris is less than a decade removed from the fraternity of Texas high school coaches, and it seems certain he will successfully recruit in Texas.

What will Morris do with the talent he amasses? Score points.
