Missouri overcomes schedule makers

Despite playing the most difficult schedule in the country and losing to injury the likely top pick in the next NBA draft, Michael Porter, Missouri continued its rebound season in week five. The Tigers beat Miami of Ohio 70-51 and Green Bay 100-77. Missouri is 8 – 2.

With the number 214 ranked schedule in the NCAA, Mississippi State continued its bully tour with wins over North Dakota State 83-59 , Dayton 61-51, and North Georgia 95-62 to remain one of seven undefeated teams in the country.

Auburn won twice in week five, Kentucky won once, and both are 8-1. Auburn’s Anfernee McLemore ranks number five nationally in blocks with 3.56 per game.

South Carolina also won twice, and is 8 and 2.

Arkansas film study pays off

Arkansas’s two wins in week five included a trouncing of number 14 ranked Minnesota.

Minnesota previously lost to Alabama in the once in a lifetime three-on-five game. After viewing the film of the Tide and Gopher contest, Arkansas decided to play five-on-five. The strategy worked, and Arkansas came out a winner, 95 – 79. Arkansas leads the league in scoring with 88.1 points per game..

Arkansas has played the fifth most difficult schedule in the country and Alabama the eighth most difficult.

Georgia continued its yo-yo performances, this week coming back to beat Winthrop 87-82 after beating number 21 ranked St. Mary’s in the Wooden Legacy and Marquette in Milwaukee. The Dawgs are 7 – 1.
