At Texas A&M, new head coach Jimbo Fisher’s first recruit may be his biggest, FSU tightends coach and recruiting coordinator Tim Brewster.

Tim Brewster worked for Fisher the last five seasons, and he will now be a part of the Aggies’ staff.

Good is not good enough

“We’re not interested in being good,” new Aggies coach Jimbo Fisher said in his post hiring press conference. “We’re interested in being elite, we’re interested in being great.”

After pulling Brewster aboard, Fisher began fishing for the elite playing talent Texas A&M needs to be great.

One of his first stops was Kennesaw, Georgia, to visit the top dual threat quarterback and top national talent Justin Fields. The rest of the SEC recognizes the recruiting threat Fisher presents, and Georgia head coach Kirby Smart was himself on the road to Kennesaw shortly after Fisher’s visit. Since then, Fields announced he will sign with Georgia.

We’re not interested in being good. We’re interested in being elite.

Most of the Aggie class has stayed intact and is ranked number 16 nationally and number five in the SEC.

While both rankings are expected to rise, Fisher is playing defense, too.

Texas head Coach Tom Herman made an in-home visit to Texas A&M linebacker commitment DaShaun White.

Four-star safety Leon O’Neal on Twitter described Fisher as a “cool guy” who “can sell a penny to anybody.” O’Neal, who had pledged to play for then A&M coach Kevin Sumlin, is exploring his options.
