Roquan Smith’s tackle for a loss sets up Lorenzo Carter’s blocked field goal in overtime.

Speed

Smith is widely reported as the fastest player on the Georgia roster. His speed brings him to the ball with a bad attitude.

“He’s a relentless guy,” Oklahoma tight Mark Andrews told reporters before the Rose Bowl. “He doesn’t stop until he gets to the ball.”

Through 14 games, Smith has total 124 tackles, 11.5 tackles for loss, two pass breakups, and a forced fumble for the Georgia football team. He reads offensive plays so fast he appears to read minds, and he has previously unseen speed at linebacker.

“He’s versatile because he’s strong against the run, he can make plays sideline to sideline, he’s good in coverage, he’s a good blitzer, he’s a good signal caller and he brings a lot of energy,” Georgia football defensive coordinator Mel Tucker said on Saturday.

The anti-offense super power inside this defensive kryptonite is speed. “He can erase some mistakes that happen on the field just because of his ability to close and make plays in space.”
