Front court disappointment

The Texas A&M basketball front line should be a rebounding dynamo. Robert Williams was considered a possible one-and down out of high school. He  earned SEC Defensive Player of the Year and Second Team All-SEC awards as a freshman.  Tyler Davis made the SEC All-freshman team and was named to a Second Team All-SEC spot as a sophomore. He will be drafted by the NBA when he finishes his career as an Aggie.

Karels also calls  JJ Caldwell’s play disappointing. After a redshirt season due to NCAA ineligibility his freshman year, Caldwell was expected to lead the Texas A&M team. Instead, it was Duane Wilson that led at the point guard spot to start the year. When Wilson went down, Caldwell stepped in and the team struggled.

Suspensions and injuries

“Unfortunately, young people make mistakes.” Texas A&M coach Billy Kennedy said in a statement.

Indeed young people do, and the mistakes along, with injuries, emptied the Texas A&M tank.

The players seem to get it.  “It was very frustrating, but it was a big mistake on my part,” Hogg said of the conduct leading to his suspension. “Just have to bounce back, can’t carry where I left off.”
