Andy Kennedy lost his 12-year race with destiny, resigning Monday night as the Ole Miss basketball head.

Andy Kennedy announced his resignation as Ole Miss basketball head coach with quiet dignity on Monday after 12 seasons as head coach.

Kennedy’s departure is a stark contrast to the departure of Hugh Freeze, the former Ole Miss football coach. Throughout his tenure, Kennedy conducted himself the same way he announced his resignation – with class.

Time to move on

It just wasn’t in the cards for Kennedy to continue at Ole Miss, and he articulated the need to move on far better than his detractors.

It’s time for a new voice

“I woke up Sunday morning with a true conviction that there needs to be some clarity with the future of Ole Miss basketball moving forward,” Kennedy said. “… It’s time for a new voice and a new vision for this program.”
