Rick Pitino

You heard right.

More than one outlet has repeated this report that Pitino could be the next Georgia basketball  head coach.

Dawn of the Dawg actually wrote a serious article rebutting the idea.

I really don’t know what to say about this. Serious people don’t take this notion seriously unless they are really serious about April Fools Day and want to get a head start. Other than that, I got nothin’.

Tom Crean

Several sources have listed Tom Crean as a potential Bulldog coach. Our friend Holden Walter-Warner at Busting Brackets said, “Crean would definitely be a home run hire for the Bulldogs, someone who has the potential to elevate the basketball program closer to the level of the football program.”

Crean’s winning percentage  as a head coach at traditional basketball schools Marquette and Indiana is 61 percent. Mark Fox’s winning percentage and Nevada and Georgia is 62 percent. Fox has had as many 20 win seasons in four less years.

I’ve watched Tom Crean a few times on the television. He seems to be a smart man, but that’s not even a sacrifice bunt.

Ron Hunter

Ron Hunter has done a very good job at Georgia State, but Greg McGarity would have to be on his second page of names and probably his second six-pack before the Dawgs made this offer.
