After a successful venture to Arlington over eighth ranked Miami, the LSU football team was elated after starting 1-0. However, two key Tigers were injured in the action.

EDGE K’Lavon Chaisson

Horrible news has come down for LSU edge rusher K’Lavon Chaisson. With an offense struggling to put away Miami, LSU relied on their top-notch defense to maintain their lead. Late in the game on Saturday, the LSU football team and fans alike were holding their breath, as the medical cart was called to the field. Chaisson chose to walk off on his own, but LSU wasn’t out of the clear yet.

According to this tweet from Shea Dixon, Ed Orgeron announced at his weekly lunch press conference that Chaisson will be out for the rest of the year knee injury.

This is heartbreaking for multiple reasons. Chaisson was praised as a possible LSU football record breaker this year. With the sack record in his sights, he was expected to soar this year and truly breakout on a national scale. Also, the LSU defense will now have to continue with very inexperienced edge rushers in his place.

More from LSU Tigers

Moving forward for the LSU football team, they must rely on Sophomore Andre Anthony and recent JUCO signee Travez Moore. Andre Anthony came out of high school as a four star defensive end from Edna Karr. Travez Moore came to LSU as the number one ranked JUCO defensive end in the country just this past year.

Unfortunately for LSU, both Anthony and Moore have very limited experience. Defensive Coordinator Dave Aranda will have his work cut out for him.

 Right Tackle Adrian Magee

Early in the action, right tackle Adrian Magee left the game after he seemed to get rolled up from behind on his lower leg. According to a tweet from Billy Embody, who covers the LSU football team on Geaux247, Magee will be out 2-3 weeks with a knee injury.

This isn’t as bad as it looked. Losing Magee for that period of time will hurt, as the LSU football team will travel to take on the seventh-ranked Auburn Tigers on September 15th.

Stepping up in the meantime will be Badara Traore. Traore stepped in against Miami and struggled, but showcased his athleticism at times. This added playing time will only be good for Traore.
