2014: #24 LSU vs. #3 Ole Miss

Ole Miss was on a tear in 2014. Having defeated number three Alabama and number fourteen Texas A&M, Ole Miss was undefeated and looking to make a splash in the first ever College Football Playoff. The LSU football team had already taken two losses on the year and could not afford another.

In yet another defensive showdown, the Rebels forced four LSU turnovers. After a fumble by true freshman Leonard Fournette on the goal line, Ole Miss marched down the field to score the game’s first touchdown in a little over a minute. LSU would answer with a field goal after a 17 play drive that took up 9 minutes on the clock.

LSU claws back

The game would stay 7-3 for the rest of the game until the fourth quarter. Starting from their own 5, the LSU football team would march down on a 13 play, 95 yard drive that culminated with a touchdown pass by Anthony Jennings to Logan Stokes.

With two seconds left at the LSU thirty, Ole Miss quarterback Bo Wallace had one last chance to win the game. Rolling to his left and firing for the end zone, Wallace was intercepted by Ronald Martin to seal the game.

The Rebels’ playoff hopes were dashed, and another classic was in the books.
