SEC Football: Who Needs Kelly Bryant?
By Bryan Law
Kelly Bryant announced his intention to leave Clemson after losing his starting job to freshman Trevor Lawrence. Since playing in 29 career games at Death Valley, Bryant will look to take his talents elsewhere, hopefully to the SEC.
Watching Clemson play Texas A&M just a couple of weeks ago, Dabo Swinney used both Kelly Bryant and Trevor Lawrence at the same time. Each threw a touchdown pass, but Bryant threw for more yards than Lawrence (205-93).
After surviving the scare at College Station, Bryant’s numbers went down drastically as Lawrence began to get more snaps. When it was announced that Lawrence would get his first start, Bryant informed Coach Swinney of his desire to transfer.
Thanks to the new four-game transfer rule, he is said to be allowed to play one more full season elsewhere. The real question is: where will he go? Here are six SEC teams who may need a new quarterback next season.
