Middle of the pack

8. Mississippi State
7. Texas A&M
6. Florida

For Mississippi State, they have a top flight defense held back by a sputtering offense. The Bulldogs’ ace in the hole should be Nick Fitzgerald, but alas, he totaled 130 yards and led the offense to ZERO touchdowns against the Gators last week.

Texas A&M has a great offense, something not uncommon for Jimbo Fisher coached teams. However, they fall behind in turnover margin. Tied for 118th in the NCAA, Texas A&M doesn’t force enough turnovers to truly make teams pay with their offense. If that improves, Texas A&M could get hot to end the season.

The best thing going for Florida is their talented defense. Star edge rushers Jachai Polite and Jabari Zuniga have totaled 7.5 sacks on the year, and the Gators are in the top twenty in both yards and points per game allowed. However, with the second-worst offense in the state of Florida, this team will have to have Herculean efforts by their defense to win many games.
