After a humiliating defeat at the hands of Auburn during last season, Smart immediately dispatched his army of coaches and consultants to devise a fresh game plan to beat the Tigers because he just had a feeling they would see them again. They did, and they ran the Tigers out of Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

Georgia then lost to Alabama in the same Mercedes-Benz Stadium. It appears Smart took a lesson from the failure, and it seems  to have been more profound than “defend deep.”

Critical decisions and failings abounded during the contest with the Tide, but what is the one single reason Georgia lost to Alabama? The one thing, had it been different, would have assured Bulldog victory.

Alabama had two quarterbacks.
