Looking for the edge

Smart and the Georgia offensive staff have their eyes on December 1st and the Alabama defense. Georgia needs an edge, something to overcome a unit capable of stopping a truck while making season changing plays. Smart looks at Justin Fields and Jake Fromm and sees the most talented Georgia quarterback pair since the introduction of the T formation, and he sees his edge.

National eyes on Georgia football

The two Bulldog super-star quarterback talents trot on and off the field like they are taking turns running out for pizza. In the mean time, analysts are a flutter.

“At some point one of those guys will have to prove they are better,” SEC Network analyst and former Vanderbilt quarterback Jordan Rodgers told DawgNation. “At some point we’re going to sort things out in the next three or four weeks.”

Kirk Herbstreit joined the fray on game day. “David (Pollack), what about the quarterback situation in Athens? Honestly, are we going to start seeing Fields? I personally hope not because Fromm … could be another Clemson type of situation. Is Fields good? Is he ok? Is he going to leave?”

Pollack, like all us wondering why it’s personal, but still always cool in the face of hysteria, responded, “Justin Fields is too good not to be on the field. I know you don’t like that from a quarterback standpoint, Kirk, but you’ll continue to see him.”

At quarterback for Georgia, take a guess

Georgia football players don’t seem to worried about who’s taking the snaps.

Mike Griffith of DawgNation quoted Elijah Holyfield, “I think that when they both get in, they both showed they are really good, and that helps us, because they both have different skill sets.”

And from Bulldogs tight end Isaac Nauta, “Justin came in and did some really good things, he’s grown up a lot since the beginning of the year and he’s starting to get a lot better. Jake did some good things as well.”
