Georgia football’s blurred vision
Losses sharpen vision
In 2017, after the Auburn defensive line ate up the Georgia offense, Kirby Smart and Sam Pittman inserted Ben Cleveland into the starting lineup the next week. It was a move no doubt discussed during the season, but it’s hard to make changes when your team is winning. Georgia lost Auburn, Cleveland got the next start, and the rest is history.
This season, Georgia can sharpen its physicality on the defensive front by getting back some injured players, but the problems run deeper at linebacker. Look for Georgia to take a page from last year’s story book season and play young linebackers Quay Walker and Channing Tindall more, with perhaps one starting for the rest of the season.
Georgia could also take a lesson from the LSU loss, a lesson it’s been handed before.
