2012: Alabama vs Georgia

Alabama football created a situation where the SEC winner played for the big championship at the end of the year. On December 1st, 2012 the Alabama Crimson Tide were back in the Georgia Dome for the SEC championship. Number two ranked Alabama would play number three ranked Georgia, and the winner would play undefeated Notre Dame for the 2013 BCS National Championship.

This game would be the most watched of the 2012 season to that point, and Alabama football beat the Georgia Bulldogs 32-28. Alabama’s running back Eddie Lacy was named MVP after rushing for 181 yards and two touchdowns. This game would only be passed in television views that year by the national championship between Alabama and Notre Dame.
