Just in the nick of time, Stetson Bennett is coming home to Georgia football.

Going back, going back, just to hear that grand ol’ sound, of the Chapel Bell and the Georgia Yell.

Georgia football signee Stetson Bennett had exactly what he wanted peeking from his stocking in Blackshear, Georgia. Then Justin Field’s transfer plans broke, and momma called.

Kirby Smart, with the 2019 run for a National Championship hinging on a reliable back up to Jake Fromm, is bringing the Dawg home to Athens.

Giving it all up for Georgia football

One year ago, Stetson Bennett risked everything, rejecting the cushy student digs, the glamorous training facilities, and the world-class education of Athens and the University of Georgia.  He saddled his pony and road west to Jones Community College in Mississippi as a former 2-star recruit and college back up, seeking fame and football opportunities.

While there, Bennett, AKA the Mailman, transformed himself from migrant cowboy into top hand, the first choice of the Louisiana-Lafayette Rajin’ Cajuns.

Hey, it’s me – Kirby

A week ago, Bennett had exactly what he wanted for Christmas – a crack at a Division 1 quarterback role.

Yesterday, Bennett rolled the dice again and bet his lonely year in Ellisville, Mississippi on a shot at being Jake Fromm’s back up at the University of Georgia. In January, the Mailman will ride back into Athens as the second most valuable player on the Georgia roster – the backup to Jake Fromm.
