Ten million reasons to say no
Bobo’s roots are in Georgia, where luscious talent hangs from the boughs of powerhouse high school football programs. Bobo proved himself an excellent recruiter while working for Mark Richt and Georgia football, and his ties to South Georgia may be his most valuable asset. He proved himself an excellent coordinator and quarterback coach, nurturing both great talents Mathew Stafford and Aaron Murray, as well as the late-blooming Hutson Mason.
This seems like a no brainer, except for a few things – like ten million things.
While the Dawgs could guarantee Bobo three times the talent to work with, they could only guarantee him half of his guaranteed ten million dollar head coach salary.
Bobo’s current contract pay’s him at least ten million dollars with a buy out that all but guarantees his job through 2021. Ten million guaranteed dollars can give a coach a lot of confidence in his ability to turn things around.
