The 2019 season of SEC Baseball is finally upon us. Opening weekend is jam-packed full of games all over the SEC.

SEC Baseball begins today! All 14 open up their 2019 seasons this weekend.

According to an article by the SEC Network, ESPN will be busy as its slated to have more than 100 SEC games aired.

There are eight teams ranked in the preseason top-25, the most of any conference. Vanderbilt, LSU, Georgia, Florida, and Ole Miss make up five of the top-10.

Mississippi State, Auburn, and Arkansas round out the SEC in the top-25 rankings. What’s crazy is that top-25 rankings don’t include a 40-win Texas A&M team, a South Carolina team who won 37 games and no Kentucky or Missouri who each won 34 games last season.

Football is the SEC’s top sport, but with rankings like that, baseball is a close second.

Vanderbilt has been predicted to win the 2019 SEC Championship. The coaches vote on who they believe will win the championship in their annual pregame rankings.

Behind the Commodores six votes, LSU received five, Florida with two and Arkansas with one.

The 2019 SEC coaches preseason poll for the eastern and western divisions look like this.

Eastern Division

  1. Vanderbilt
  2. Florida
  3. Georgia
  4. South Carolina
  5. Tennessee
  6. Kentucky
  7. Missouri

Western Division

  1. LSU
  2. Ole Miss
  3. Arkansas
  4. Auburn
  5. Texas A&M
  6. Mississippi State
  7. Alabama

Things to Look out for in the 2019 Season

Keep an out for the battle between LSU and Vanderbilt. It seems like these two teams are always at the top of rankings and competing for who is best in the SEC.

Who will come out on top this year? The coaches believe it’ll be Vanderbilt, but it’s only right to assume that LSU will be looking to make some more noise.

Something else to keep an eye out for is the progress of Mississippi State baseball.

After losing their head coach early last season, the Bulldogs struggled,  had a late push, but ultimately got booted from the SEC tournament.

Georgia is the big sleeper of SEC baseball in my opinion. They improved by 14 wins last season and made the tournament for the first time since 2011.

Now its time for the Athens Bulldogs to make a move and noise in the SEC. They have a solid squad and good pitching. Watch out baseball world, Georgia could be cooking up something in the Classic City.
