Washington Makes his Case

P.J. Washington is probably the second best player in the SEC behind Williams. However, that could change in the rematch between Kentucky and Tennessee on March 2.

Washington needs to solidify himself as a dominant force against Williams. Not to mention he needs to do this every single game.

Instead of being the team player that he is, maybe getting a little selfish to boost yourself isn’t such a bad thing. However, I  don’t know that it would happen because of the type of player he is for Kentucky.

Washington is about the team and helping the team stay successful, but at the same time, he needs to step up and showcase his talents.

There are five games left in the season, and he needs to explode in them. He needs to become a little flashier and demand for his teammates to pass the ball. Washington needs to boost his average up on both the points and rebounds.

He needs to continue being the force he already is for the Kentucky Wildcats. The way he gets noticed and perk up peoples ears in the SEC Player of the Year debate may come down to that second game against Williams.

If he can mimic what he did in the first game with Williams, it’ll show a lot of people he can be a defensive force while putting up 20-points a game.

Washington should be in contention and should be one of the leaders for SEC Player of the Year because not a lot of players can do what he does. Williams is the closest.

Now Kentucky wins the games, the SEC Championships, the National titles, and has a lot of SEC weekly awards, but it has been since 2015-16 season since a player of the year title came back to Lexington.

Washington can do it, and if he continues to play like he is, there shouldn’t be much of a debate as to why he deserves the award.
