Texas A&M Basketball: Savion Flagg Crowned SEC Player of the Week
Texas A&M Basketball (12-14,5-9) defeated Alabama and Arkansas last week. After Savion Flagg’s performance in each game, he received SEC Player of the Week honors.
Texas A&M Basketball swept Alabama and won for the first time in 33 years at Arkansas, and Savion Flagg was a big part to the Aggies success.
Flagg is the first Aggie to win the honors this season and his first time winning it in his career. He did win SEC Freshman of the Week one-time last season.
In last weeks two games, he averaged 20 points and nine rebounds. Flagg led the Aggies in scoring and rebounding the past three games.
Against The Tide, he scored 18 points and nine rebounds. He helped Texas A&M complete the sweep against Alabama beating the Tide 65-56.
Flagg put up 22 points and nine boards in the 87-80 win over Arkansas. It was the first time in 33 years that Texas A&M won in Fayetteville.
His consistency last week wasn’t something new. Flagg has been one of the most consistent players on Texas A&M’s team. He averages 12.8 points and 7.7 boards a game.
Flagg leads the Aggies in rebounds and second in scoring behind Wendall Martin who averages 13.4 points a game. He leads the SEC and the Aggies in minutes player as he averages 34.3 minutes a matchup. Flagg also shoots 46 percent from the floor.
There isn’t much Flagg isn’t consistent at doing. He is a bright spot for the Aggie team who has struggled most of the season. They have won four of the last five games as the SEC Tournament quickly approaches.
Texas A&M returns to the court on Tuesday as they travel to Baton Rouge to take on a hot LSU team. Tip-off is set for 8:00 p.m. ET as the Aggies want to humble the Tigers.
