SEC Football: Jake Fromm vs. Feleipe Franks

Jake Fromm and Feleipe Franks are two of SEC football’s top quarterbacks. But which guy is the better overall signal caller?

There has been a debate as to who is the better SEC football quarterback, Georgia’s Jake Fromm or Florida’s Feleipe Franks. Well, we’re here to break down this argument and settle it.

Both guys possess qualities that any team would want as their first-string quarterback. However, it is hard to make an argument as to who is better because the two have only faced off against each other once.

Both times the two faced off, Fromm statistically outworked Franks.

In 2017, Franks completed 7-of-19 passes for 30 yards and one interception. Fromm went 4-of-7 for 101 yards, one score, and one interception.

According to the game’s statistics, Franks completed 13-of-21 passes for 105 yards, one score, and one interception. He got sacked once as well. Fromm completed 17-of-24 passes for 240 yards and three touchdowns. He got sacked once as well.

Fromm did better on paper in the one game they played against each other, but that wasn’t enough for me.

So in games against the same opponents, we can look at who runs his team better, possess better leadership qualities and who is physically more talented.

Fromm came in as a true freshman and did things not many thought he could. Franks has been one of the consistent guys for the Gators who have been working through quarterback growing pains.

According to South Bound and Downs’ Twitter, Jake Fromm easily won the question of who fans chose as their quarterback.

According to the 2018 SEC’s quarterback rating statistic, Jake Fromm ranked as the No. 2 SEC quarterback with a 175.81 rating. Franks ranked as the No. 7 SEC quarterback with a 144.07 QBR.

That statistic is just one of many the SEC uses to rank its quarterbacks and one we use here. However, to find out who the better quarterback is we have to break down Franks and Fromm individually.
