SEC basketball has four teams that advanced to the Sweet 16 round of the 2019 NCAA Tournament. The only conference above the SEC is the ACC with five in the Sweet 16.

SEC Basketball has four of the 16 teams in the third round of the 2019 NCAA Tournament. The SEC has a 25 percent chance to take home the championship trophy.

According to the SEC Network, this is the third time in conference history four teams made the Sweet 16.

There could have been five teams, but Florida fell to Michigan 64-40, in round two of the tournament.

The SEC got off to a hot start going 4-0 in day one of the first rounds. After day two, the SEC improved to 5-2 in the opening round of the NCAA Tournament.

Auburn, Kentucky, LSU, and Tennessee are the four SEC teams left in the big dance. Each of them got past the first and second rounds, some better than others.

Now it’s crunch time for these four teams because each of them has legit shots at Final Four spots.

Tennesse is in the Sweet 16 for the first time since 2014. LSU made it for the first time since 2006. The last time Auburn made it was in 2003.

As for Kentucky, the Wildcats have had the most success in the NCAA Tournament. The Wildcats have made the Final Four times under head coach John Calipari and look to make 2019 the fifth time. And the last time Kentucky was in the Sweet 16, well was last year when the Wildcats fell to Kansas State.

All four teams have something to prove and despite the up’s and down’s the teams had in the first two rounds, the SEC stands a chance at getting to the final four and possibly a title.
