Tennessee

The Tennessee Volunteers got a wake up call against Colgate and Iowa. Both games the Vols could have easily lost, but their experience helped them get to the Sweet 16.

Colgate made 15-of-29 three-pointers against Tennessee which kept them in the game. However, Tennesse had a lot more depth than Colgate did which helped them get to round two.

Then, Iowa took the Vols to the wire, but Tennessee held on to win 83-77. These two teams matched up evenly. Tennessee shot better from everywhere on the floor, but the Hawkeyes wouldn’t give up the fight.

The Hawkeyes forced turnovers and gave Tennessee a wakeup call the Vols needed heading into the next round.

Up next for the Vols is against No. 3 seed Purdue. According to ESPN, the Boilermakers have a 50.7 percent chance to win while the Vols have a 49.3 percent chance.

Tennessee needs to settle down and let their experience take over again. The Vols have two of the most dynamic players in the country and they need to utilize them without getting into foul trouble.

Purdue is a force though. The Boilermakers defeated their first two opponents, 61-48 and 87-61.

They know how to score points and prevent teams from scoring. Tennessee needs to make sure they guard the perimeter well and force the Boilermakers inside. The Vols big guys can handle the Boilermakers post players.

Tennessee and Purdue play on March 28 at 7:29 p.m. ET on TBS.
