SEC football: Way-too-early 2020 East predictions

SEC football is still four months away, but that won’t stop us from giving you our way-too-early 2020 SEC East predictions.

As the 2020 SEC football season nears, fans are beginning to wonder just where their teams stack up amongst others in the division. Will this be the season that my team finally makes it to the conference championship? Is this the year that we finally make a playoff run? Luckily, Southbound and Down is here to give you some insight.

The SEC East has certainly taken a few steps back in the past couple of years thanks to faulty coaching hires and the rise of the Western division. Memories of Tim Tebow leading the Gators to a national championship and Phillip Fulmer consistently trotting out competitive teams is now old news.

But the gap that once separated the East and West is beginning to run slim as Georgia continues to showcase elite talent, Dan Mullen proceeds to rejuvenate Florida football, and Mark Stoops keeps proving to be a pleasant surprise. Now, the rest of the division must play catch up.
