SEC Football Fan Rankings: Florida

Remember when The Swamp was the most intimidating SEC football stadium in which to play, and the Gator Nation was the most-despised fanbase in the conference?

Some of us do, but unfortunately, none of the current Gator fans really do. But they’re working on it, as is their football team.

After two straight seasons of 10 wins or more, Dan Mullen has the Orange and Blue believing once again, and they’re resuming their old ways in attempting to get under everyone else’s skin – most notably, Georgia fans.

There’s no doubt that the Gators are probably the biggest threat to Georgia in the SEC East, but the fanbase still needs to catch up. After seven tumultuous seasons of Will Muschamp and Jim McElwain, it may be that Florida fans are still a little gunshy.

Still, there’s a lot of swagger returning to the fans at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium, and the parade of jorts and mullets around Gainesville is resurfacing again. This is a fanbase primed for their team to really succeed, and when that happens, they’ll once again become the foil they loved being during Spurrier’s and Meyer’s glory years.

The Chomp is (almost) back.
