SEC Football Fan Rankings: Auburn

Normally Auburn fans would find themselves in the top three or four of a list like this, but the growing displeasure with Gus Malzahn and the lack of overall progress seems to have stifled them to a degree.

Some fanbases would find it hard to figure why a group couldn’t get behind a team who’s won eight or more games six of the last seven years and hasn’t had a losing season under the current head coach, but the truth is, those who proudly chant “War Eagle!” expect more.

Other than three out of seven wins in the Iron Bowl, and a 12-2 season to start his career at Auburn, Malzahn hasn’t done much to endear himself to the Auburn fans. Losing the final game of the season five out of seven years hasn’t helped either.

The grumbling on the Plains is beginning to resemble that of the Vol Nation, and this could very well be a put up or shut up year for Malzahn and his gimmicky offense. Auburn fans simply want more than a winning record and a bowl berth, and until that happens they’re going to seem a somewhat discontented bunch.

It could be another long year for Aubie.
