After welcoming professional teams, it’s clear that Florida Governor Ron DeSantis wants to see the return of sports- great news for SEC football fans.

If there were any skepticism that the state of Florida would not resume athletics this fall, it was definitely put to rest today. The chance to play SEC football on time just got that much better.

Ron DeSantis took to the podium and welcomed all professional sport’s teams to practice and play at a number of Florida stadiums and arenas.

"“What I would tell commissioners of leagues is, if you have a team in an area where they just won’t let them operate, we’ll find a place for you here in the state of Florida.”"

This opens up the possibility of NFL teams practicing or even playing at Ben Hill Griffin Stadium and other surrounding stadiums/arenas in the state.

Arizona Governor Doug Ducey also invited professional teams to resume play in his state.

And while this is a great opportunity for Florida residents to watch professional teams that they wouldn’t had seen otherwise, most importantly it allows for teams in California and other restricted states to resume play on time.

The way I see it, there’s really no excuse or reason for NFL, NBA, and MLB to cancel or postpone play. Now that a government official has stepped up to the plate, there will always be an opportunity to compete in the sunshine state.

Truthfully, it’s comforting to see someone outside of the sport’s world come forward and give hope to us fanatics. For the past few months, the realm of sports have been left in the dark regarding COVID-19.

And though there’s still a state of confusion and uncertainty, Ron DeSantis and Doug Ducey just gave us a shot in the arm.

Let’s hope that others in their position follow the same lane and build on the momentum that athletics is currently riding.
