SEC Football Predictions: Mississippi State Bulldogs

The Mississippi State Bulldogs also suffered from a coaching deficiency last season and will look to refine under new head coach Mike Leach.

It looks like Leach will have a lot to work with after K.J. Costello decided to take his talents to Starkville after spending his entire college career at Stanford. Costello threw for over 6,000 yards and 49 touchdowns during his three-year stint with the Cardinals.

If things go as planned, we should see the senior quarterback make good use of the air-raid offense that Leach has mastered over the years.

Kylin Hill will also be making a return to Mississippi State after rushing for 1,350 yards last season.

However, it looks like the defense will be the achilles heel for the Bulldogs after losing numerous starters to the NFL this year.

And while I project Costello to have a solid season, it may come with a few headaches as the Bulldogs will be transitioning to a totally new offense in 2020.

If Leach is able to get off to a hot start, we may see the Bulldogs rise within the division, but a back-breaking series of games throughout the middle of the schedule will put out any fire that Leach had ignited.

Projection: 6-6 (2-6, SEC)
