SEC Football Predictions: Ole Miss Rebels

After spending the past two seasons at a mid-major program, Lane Kiffin will look to exact his revenge on all Western division foes in 2020.

And while most of the Rebels’ capabilities are a mystery, it’s certain that all eyes will be on Ole Miss football for the first time in a long time.

Last year, the fleet footed John Rhys Plumlee had no issues picking up yardage with his legs as he rushed for over 1,000 yards. But if the Rebels want to become a serious threat in the west, the sophomore must find a way to improve his passing game after throwing for just 4 touchdowns along with 3 interceptions.

However, running back Jerrion Ealy should take some of the heavy lifting off of Plumlee. Last season, he ran for 722 yards.

Kiffin will also have a load of talent at the receiver position as the team’s top 3 pass catchers from 2019 will be returning.

But the real question mark happens to be with the defense, which has been a common weakness for the Rebels for the past few seasons.

It’s uncertain that Plumlee will mold into a legit passer, and the Rebels could be in for some trouble if they have to continuously outscore opponents on a game-to-game basis.

Projection: 7-5 (3-5, SEC)
