Arkansas football returns three of their leading receivers

One of the most pleasant surprises from 2019 happened to be at the wide receiver position.

Trey Knox, Treylon Burks and Mike Woods combined for a total of 90 receptions and over 1,200 yards despite dealing with quarterback issues throughout the entire year.

Kendal Briles will look to get them the football in ways that Chad Morris couldn’t.

A key component to Brile’s offense relies on getting the ball into the playmaker’s hands.

Knox is a 6’5 sophomore who uses his size and strength to fight off defenders when going up and fighting for the ball. This proved to be effective as Knox managed to pull in 3 touchdowns last season. We should expect to see his numbers increase in 2020.

Accompanying him will be the fellow sophomore Treylon Burks, who managed to lead the team in receiving.

Burks never found the end zone last year, but that should change in year 2.

And then there’s the junior Mike Woods.

The 6’1 wide-out lead the unit in touchdowns with a total of 4 in 2019.

Although Woods is a possession pass-catcher, he also has a knack for getting behind defenders thanks to crisp route-running and movement to confuse opposing cornerbacks and safeties.

Overall, the unit performed considerably well in spite of continuously going through quarterback changes which halted their true progression. I think we should expect to see a breakout year for the squad with Franks under center and Briles calling the plays.
