Ole Miss vs Mississippi State: The Egg Bowl

While an old and historic rivalry, the name of this game simply doesn’t do much for anyone. Sure, the trophy looks like a big golden egg, but couldn’t they come up with a more inspiring name?

You have two old, southern universities in the same state trying to kill each other. Let’s do better than “egg”.

Milk is the state beverage. We could combine the two for the French Toast Bowl.

Nah.

How about reaching back into why the state has its name to begin with, the Mississippi River, so-named by the Ojibwa tribe as Messipi, which means “Big River.”
