SEC Baseball: Preseason power rankings for 2022 season
By Matt Melton
14. Missouri Tigers
Beginning with Missouri, the Tigers struggled at times a year ago in route to a 15-36 overall record (8-22 in SEC).
Coming off that season, Missouri enters 2022 having to replace numerous key players from a year ago, with arguably none bigger than outfielder Andrew Keefer. In addition to Keefer as well, prominent players such as Brandt Belk, Mark Vierling, and Seth Halvorsen are also gone alongside others.
Despite this lost production however, the Tigers do return a few notable names in the lineup such as shortstop Joshua Day, Luke Mann, and Torin Montgomery, as well as two starters in Zach Hise and Spencer Miles. Relievers Jacob Kush and Trae Robertson could also see time in the rotation, while Ian Lohse and transfer Carter Rustad could play important roles in the bullpen.
In addition to those names, Missouri did also add multiple transfers that could make an impact this season such as Dexter Swims, and will likely need big seasons from a few of their new additions.
While Missouri does return a few key pieces, the Tigers will also be counting on some of their new additions in important roles. As for what Missouri could do this season, it likely depends on the impact that those transfers have.
