SEC Recruiting: 5 SEC teams included in Top 7 for 4-star S Joenel Aguero

One of the top safeties in the entire country Joenel Aguero announced his Top 7 on Wednesday night, a list that includes five SEC teams.

As mentioned in the tweet from Aguero on Wednesday night as well, those five SEC teams are Alabama, Florida, Georgia, LSU, and Texas A&M, as well as Miami and Ohio State also listed in the Top 7.

A four-star safety and Top 50 overall player in the Class of 2023, Aguero is currently rated as the No. 49 overall player in the country according to the 247Sports Composite, as well as the No. 2 overall safety nationally.

After spending the 2019 season at St. John’s Prep in Lynn, MA (2020 season cancelled), Aguero would transfer to national powerhouse IMG Academy in Bradenton, FL for his junior season a year ago. However, Aguero has since returned to St. John’s Prep for his senior season, where the four-star is also currently rated as the No. 2 overall player in the state of Massachusetts.

While a majority of his time in high school has come in the secondary, Aguero also saw time at wide receiver as a freshman back in 2019. However, at 6-foot and 195 pounds, Aguero will likely play safety at the next level where the four-star’s size and athleticism allow him to excel playing in both pass coverage, as well as down near the line of scrimmage.

Looking at the SEC finalists for Aguero, the four-star has already visited both Georgia and Alabama, as well as also lined up visits to both Florida and LSU for later this month.
