2022 SEC Tournament Second Round Predictions
No. 8 Texas A&M vs No. 9 Florida
This is by-far the biggest matchup on Thursday in the SEC with both teams currently sitting just outside the NCAA Tournament as mentioned previously. With the losing team eliminated from NCAA Tournament contention, this game will likely be close throughout (similar to the 56-55 Texas A&M win in College Station a few weeks ago), with the game decided late in the second half. Prediction: Florida
No. 5 LSU vs No. 12 Missouri
Missouri should pick up a win on Wednesday night over Ole Miss, but will surely be the underdog in the second round against LSU, an opponent that defeated the Tigers 75-55 almost two weeks ago in Baton Rouge. LSU should have some advantages in this matchup against Missouri, and while this might not be a 20-point win as it was previously, the Tigers should win by around 10-15 points. Prediction: LSU
No. 7 South Carolina vs No. 10 Mississippi State
One intriguing team that arguably no-one is talking about entering the week is 7-seed South Carolina, with the Gamecocks facing off against a Mississippi State team that split the season-series between the two. However, the Bulldogs could present some matchup problems for the Gamecocks at times, as well as having the best player on the court in guard Iverson Molinar. Prediction: Mississippi State
No. 6 Alabama vs No. 11 Vanderbilt
A rematch of an entertaining 74-72 road win for the Crimson Tide in Nashville a little over two weeks ago, this will not be an easy opening game for Alabama by any means. Pippen had 26 points against the Crimson Tide in that matchup, and while he may post a similar stat line here, it could be hard for the Commodores to keep up with Alabama offensively once again. Prediction: Alabama
