2. LSU Tigers

As mentioned with Texas A&M previously, LSU’s primary starter from a year ago is now in College Station, meaning that the Tigers have a quarterback competition headlining the first spring under new head coach Brian Kelly.

While there is arguably no clear leader in that competition, if you had to label a favorite, it would likely be the returning Myles Brennan. A sixth-year senior, Brennan missed all of the 2021 season with an injury, and returns to Baton Rouge after beginning the 2020 season as the starter throwing for 1,112 yards and 11 touchdowns before suffering an injury.

However, you could certainly also make an argument that Arizona State transfer Jayden Daniels is the favorite entering the spring as a former Top 40 recruit, as well as the No. 2 dual-threat quarterback of the 2019 class. The most experienced of the group, Daniels has started each of the past three seasons with the Sun Devils, throwing for 6,025 yards and 32 touchdowns while also rushing for 1,288 yards and 13 scores.

While Brennan and Daniels will likely get a majority of the attention this spring, 2021 backup Garrett Nussmeier also returns after appearing in four games a year ago, while incoming in-state Top 50 recruit Walker Howard is also a name to watch for.
