Georgia Basketball: Way-too-early roster outlook for 2022-23 season
By Matt Melton
Coming off a 2021-22 season in which the Bulldogs finished 6-26 overall, Georgia Basketball now enters the first offseason under new head coach Mike White. Coming to Athens after seven successful seasons at Florida, the Gators made a total of four NCAA Tournament appearances under White, while also landing three five-star recruits.
Looking ahead to White’s first season in Athens however, what is Georgia Basketball’s 2022-23 roster set to look like as of right now?
Way-too-early Georgia Basketball roster outlook for 2022-23 season
Likely Gone to NBA/Graduation
- G Aaron Cook
- F PJ Horne
- F Jonathan Ned
All three of Cook, Horne, and Ned will be gone due to graduation, with Cook the only member of the group who saw time during the 2021-22 season (Horne and Ned missed season due to injury). Starting in all 31 games as the Bulldogs point guard, Cook averaged 10.5 PPG while also ranking among the top of the SEC with 5.4 APG.
Decisions to Watch For:
- F Braelen Bridges
- F Jailyn Ingram
- F Noah Baumann
Three transfers during the offseason, Ingram was one of the Bulldogs top scorers for the early-part of the season before suffering an injury, while Bridges and Baumann were both impact scorers for the Bulldogs. All three could potentially use their extra year of eligibility to come back, with each being impact players for Georgia in 2022-23 if they do return.
Set to Return:
- G Kario Oquendo
- F Jabri Abdur-Rahim
- G Christian Wright
- G Jaxon Etter
- F Dalen Ridgnal
- F Tyron McMillan
- F Josh Taylor
- G Cam McDowell
- F Tyrone Baker
While the Bulldogs do not currently hold a commit in their 2022 class, Georgia Basketball is set to return a majority of their 2021-22 roster led by leading-scorer Kario Oquendo (15.2 PPG, 4.3 RPG). Outside of Oquendo however, Abdur-Rahim and Etter were the only other members of the roster who averaged over 10+ minutes per game this past season.
