Looking ahead to next month’s NFL Draft, the SEC is once again expected to see numerous names selected in the first round, a number that will likely reach double-digits. Out of that group of players however, one name in particular who has continued to rise up draft boards since the season ended is Georgia Football defensive lineman Travon Walker.

Will Georgia Football’s Travon Walker go Top 5 in the 2022 NFL Draft?

A former five-star prospect out of the Georgia prep ranks, you may not find a player along the defensive line in the entire 2022 NFL Draft with more upside than Walker.

A three-year player at Georgia, Walker was a key piece of the Bulldogs defensive front from 2019-21, a span in which he collected a combined 65 tackles, 13 TFL, and 9.5 sacks. Collecting honors such as 2019 Freshman All-SEC during that span, Walker’s time in Athens culminated in a career-year during the Bulldogs 2021 national championship season, one that has helped catapult him to the top of the first round.

While Walker’s pure-athleticism and quickness in the trenches is evident during his play across the last three seasons, the Georgia defensive lineman has done nothing but help his draft stock during the pre-draft process. Included in this was an impressive performance at the combine in which the 6-foot-5, 275 pounder ran a phenomenal 4.51 40-yard dash, as well as yet another strong showing at the Bulldogs pro day.

When looking at recent mock drafts of where Walker could potentially land, the Georgia defensive lineman has fully emerged as a lock to go in the Top 10 picks overall, likely falling somewhere in the Top 5. While it’s unlikely that the Jaguars select him over Michigan’s Aidan Hutchinson at No. 1 overall, Walker could be emerging as an option for either Detroit or Houston at picks two-three, and it seems likely that the Georgia standout is going to hear his name called within the first three picks overall.

dark. Next. Which SEC QB competitions should you watch for this spring?

Georgia Football has multiple players from their front seven set to be selected in the first two rounds of this years draft, a group that also includes Jordan Davis, Nakobe Dean, and Devonte Wyatt. Walker is certainly going to be the first name to be called of that group, as well as potentially the first player picked of many from the SEC overall. Will it be within the Top 5?
