Entering the day on Friday, you could’ve already made an excellent argument that Texas A&M Football‘s 2022 class was one of the greatest recruiting classes of all-time, if not the greatest.
Well, the Aggies likely put the finishing touches on that impressive group on Friday afternoon when Texas A&M landed Lebbeus Overton, commit No. 30 of their already top-ranked 2022 recruiting class.
5-star DL Lebbeus Overton commits to Texas A&M Football
A five-star defensive lineman from Milton High School in Alpharetta, GA, Overton is a former top recruit from the Class of 2023 who recently announced earlier this year that he would be reclassifying to 2022. Releasing a Top 5 at the time as well, Overton announced his commitment to the Aggies over a final list that included Georgia, Ohio State, Oklahoma, and Oregon.
The nation’s No. 18 overall player according to the 247Sports Composite, Overton is also currently rated as the No. 3 player from the state of Georgia, as well as the No. 5 defensive lineman nationally.
Having spent the past three seasons split between Milton and Bessemer Academy, AL (2019 as a freshman), Overton over that span has compiled an impressive stat line that includes a combined 229 tackles, 96.5 TFL, 48 sacks, and 8 FF. A versatile athlete at 6-foot-4 and 265 pounds, Overton is a two-sport athlete as well who also plays basketball.
As mentioned previously, this is likely the final piece of a historic 2022 class for the Aggies, one that now includes a total of eight five-star prospects, four of which are along the defensive line. With Overton as the fourth, the Aggies other defensive line commits include the nation’s No. 2 overall player Walter Nolen, Shemar Stewart, Gabriel Brownlow-Dindy, Enai White, Anthony Lucas, Malick Sylla, and Jadon Scarlett.
Looking ahead, Overton will likely be one of the most talented pass rushers along a deep Texas A&M Football defensive front next season, and could easily make a major impact in 2022 as a freshman.
