The first of three spring games within the SEC on Saturday afternoon, Kentucky Football began the day for the conference when the Wildcats took the field from Kroger Field in Lexington. One of the projected top teams in the SEC East in 2022, what were a few takeaways from the Wildcats spring game?

3 takeaways from the 2022 Kentucky Football spring game

Will Levis impressive in limited action

Despite only seeing limited action during the first quarter, one of the more notable performances from the Wildcats spring game was from starting quarterback Will Levis who threw two touchdown passes to Chris Rodriguez and freshman Dane Key. Levis certainly impressed Saturday during his time on the field, showing why he is one of the top returning quarterbacks in the SEC in 2022.

Another Robinson at WR

With Kentucky Football tasked with replacing leading receiver Wan’Dale Robinson this season, a few of the Wildcats newer wideouts did show some flashes Saturday, a group that includes the previously mentioned Key. In addition to Key, Virginia Tech transfer Tayvion Robinson also impressed, and is a name that will certainly play a key role in the Wildcats receiver room in 2022.

Wildcats offense could be dangerous

It was simply an impressive performance from the Wildcats offense in the first showing under new OC Rich Scangarello. With Rodriguez and Kavosiey Smoke both returning to headline the running game, combined with Levis at quarterback, the Wildcats could have one of the better offenses in the SEC if one-to-two wide receivers emerge in the fall.

Speaking of the fall, there are certainly a few things still to be decided for the Wildcats going forward. However, there is no denying that Kentucky will be among the top half of the SEC once again in 2022, led by an impressive offense.
