One of the more-anticipated spring games across the SEC this offseason, Texas A&M Football took the field on Saturday afternoon with a majority of the eyes around the college football world on College Station. With many storylines surrounding the Aggies 2022 spring game, what are a few takeaways from Saturday?

3 takeaways from the 2022 Texas A&M Football spring game

Aggies QB competition still undecided

You could argue that the Aggies quarterback competition wasn’t expected to be decided this spring, and that certainly appears to be the case as Texas A&M Football now turns their attention to the fall. All three of Johnson, King, and Weigman did see time on Saturday, with each showing flashes at times.

Johnson would complete 13-of-31 passes for 117 yards and two touchdowns, while King would complete 11-of-33 passes for 130 yards with a rushing touchdown. Weigman, a five-star freshman, completed 7-of-19 passes for 116 yards and a touchdown.

Adeleye and Hughes among defensive standouts

Texas A&M saw two special performances on the defensive side of the ball in particular from former four-star Tunmise Adeleye and safety Avery Hughes. Adeleye was a force along the defensive line who was seemingly around every play, while Hughes had a big day picking off two passes while also recovering a fumble.

Amari Daniels, Evan Stewart among offensive standouts

Similar to the defense previously, the offensive side of the ball also saw two big performances from running back Amari Daniels and five-star freshman wideout Evan Stewart. Daniels had a massive day on the ground rushing for 128 yards and 16 carries, while Stewart caught a total of seven passes for 75 yards.

Looking ahead for the Aggies, Texas A&M Football will be one of the more interesting teams to watch for going into the fall. Not only with the quarterback competition be a big talking point, but the Aggies top-ranked 2022 class will be as well, a group that includes a few names from Saturday afternoon.
